Laser
Procedures

Our Excimer Laser is used to perform the following procedures:
  • IntraLase LASIK - ALL-LASER-LASIK. The IntraLase laser is used to create the flap.
  • CustomCornea LASIK - A detailed, computerized mapping of your cornea is used for a personal treatment.
  • PRK - For patients with thin corneas this procedure is helpful because no flap is made.
  • Epi-LASIK & LASEK - The top layer of the cornea, the epithelia, is gently moved aside for the laser treatment and replaced as the last step of the procedure.

  • Multifocal lenses - As with cataract surgery a patient's natural lens is replace with a multifocal lens which allows him to see near, intermediate or distant objects.
  • Crystalens - A patient's natural lens is replaced with an artificial accommodating lens for a full range of vision.
  • Intacs - Especially helpful to patients with keratoconus, these tiny arched inserts stabilize the cornea and improve vision for patients who are mildly nearsighted.

REFRACTIVE SURGERY AT Premier Eye Care Group

The goal of refractive surgery procedures is to reduce or eliminate a patient's dependency on glasses or contacts. At Premier Eye Care Group our surgeons are dedicated to offering a variety of vision correction procedures to meet the needs and complexity of each individual patient.

LASIK is the most common form of refractive surgery, but recent technological developments make improved vision possible for patients who were once considered ineligible for refractive surgery.

We currently offer the nine vision correction procedures listed above. Our surgeons will recommend the refractive procedure that will give each patient the best results for near, intermediate and distance vision.

The first step towards being less dependent on your glasses or contacts is a complimentary consultation with one of our refractive surgical counselors. Click here to schedule your consultation online.

MONOVISION

Natural aging for everyone includes changes in ones vision. Presbyopia is when the lens inside your eye loses its flexibility and inhibits the ability to easily change focus from far to near. Patients usually notice presbyopia during their forties. Many patients inquire about monovision during this period of their life.

Monovision is the ability for your dominant eye to focus clearly on items far away and the other eye to focus up close. Doctors can use contact lenses or refractive surgery to treat a patient with monovision. A patient should try monovision with contact lenses before he or she attempts monovision through LASIK. If there is a significant difference between the two eyes, patients may be frustrated with their vision, however, some patients adapt easily to monovision.

Modified-monovision is when a patient's dominant eye is corrected for distance and the other eye is slightly under-corrected. This difference in correction between the two eyes is usually not as noticeable to patients during their daily activities. However, the slightly under-corrected eye allows patients to see things that are near or at an intermediate distance more clearly.

LASIK and other forms of refractive surgery treat refractive errors for distance vision by changing the shape of their cornea. These procedures do not affect the lens inside one's eye or the changes that occur to the lens as one ages. Talk with your eye doctor about questions you may have regarding monovision.

Save money on LASIK by using your pre-tax dollars.

Many employers have open enrollment during the fall or winter for a medical flexible-spending account for pre-tax dollars. Before you sign up for this great benefit, call our surgical counselors at 232-0843 for a no-charge consultation to learn if you are a candidate for refractive surgery. Our price includes all your pre-operative testing, the surgery and all post-operative appointments for one year.
