Thu T. Pham, M.D.

Thu T. Pham, M.D. Thu T. Pham, M.D. grew up in the neighboring state of Maryland. She was a National Merit Scholar at Johns Hopkins University, graduating with Honors in biomedical engineering. Dr. Pham became involved in medical research at Johns Hopkins University. During college she was a Howard Hughes scholar performing research in cervical cancer vaccines. Besides her academic interests, Dr. Pham was active in the community, enjoying activities such as building houses for Habitat for Humanity.

She received her medical degree from one of the top medical schools in the country, the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Pham was honored to serve the people of Gaborone, Botswana during a six-week rotation in internal medicine caring for patients with AIDS. While in medical school Dr. Pham was awarded a short-term research grant by the National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases.

Pham, M.D. with a patientAfter completing a one-year internal medicine internship at Christiana Care Health Services in Newark, Delaware, Dr. Pham entered her residency training in ophthalmology at the Cole Eye Institute within the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. During her residency she continued to work on research projects in refractive surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, and oculoplastics, and presented her findings at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual meetings. One of Dr. Pham's most rewarding experiences of her residency training was when she traveled to Visakhapatnam, India to care for indigent patients. For one month she performed dozens of cataract surgeries at the LV Prasad Eye Institute and provided high quality follow-up care.

When Dr. Pham is not busy with patients, she enjoys knitting and crocheting. She is fluent in Vietnamese, active with yoga, and may be found bicycling around Central PA.

Patients can see Dr. Pham for general ophthalmology services such as comprehensive eye exams, treatment for glaucoma and cataract surgery. She is accepting new patients at our 2745 North Front Street office in Harrisburg.
